Photo of the Month 001

This is the first installation of my photo of the month. Each month I intend to look through the photos I have taken and pick my favourite, outlining why I like the image and a little information about the subject and how I captured it.

D7500 Sigma 150-600c 1/200 sec at f/8.0, ISO 2000

For the first entry I had to pick a bird that I have spent a lot of time with and yet have taken very few decent photos of, that bird is the Dipper (Cinclus cinclus). Having not taken many photos during September this was a fairly easy choice. However, I am very happy with this image.

The Dipper is positioned nicely in the frame and the rain adds a level of interest to the image. I would have preferred the background to be cleaner, as I find the green to the right of the bird rather distracting. I was very limited with my positioning when taking this image as the river I was next to was about to burst its banks. Even with this limitation I feel I managed to capture a very pleasing image, it is not perfect but definitely a pleasant photo none the less.
